Press Release – Club Secretary Wins Voluntary Service Award from Essex LTA
7th April 2016
Local Tennis Club Secretary is recognised for dedication and work
Chris Rastin, the Secretary of Hutton and Shenfield Tennis Club, has been formally recognised for all his hard work and dedication by the Essex LTA who have awarded him a Voluntary Service Award.
Chris, who has been the club Secretary for over 10 years is responsible for the co-ordinating of committee meetings and AGMs, supporting and leading specific projects and is one of the cornerstones of the club’s recent success.
A retired Ford executive with close ties to the community via the Rotary Club, Chris is also a keen amateur golfer and splits his time between the fairway and the tennis courts.
Chris Rastin commented “Without the good work of the committee and the volunteers, our club would cease to exist. It is lovely to be recognised by the Essex LTA for the work done, but it really is a team effort – the club is completely run by our volunteers.”
Chairman of the club, Ian Gunn said “Chris has unselfishly given up an enormous amount of his time and we are truly grateful for all his work – especially with regard to the renovation of our clubhouse. I turn to him many times for advice and guidance on the successful running of the club – well done Chris – richly deserved!”
