That’s a wrap on the Great British Tennis Weekend 2017

The success of any event lies with good planning, organisation and effort. This year’s Open Weekend was a good case in point with a record 120 pre-registrations to play tennis and nearly 100 people turning up over the two days, a fantastic achievement. We have secured around 6 new members so far which helps fill the gap from those who didn’t renew in 2017.

Mitch Read and Matt Keeling did a brilliant job planning and organising the event, we had advertising boards for the first time (thanks to all those people who agreed to have a sign up), Peter Mayell and Chris Rastin were at the station handing out leaflets (again!) and there were banners, posters and leaflets all around Shenfield! Christian Allen and his team of coaches worked flat out and as usual did a great job and received fantastic feedback.

The most pleasing thing was the help from all the volunteers over the two days. We needed people to give up their time to make the two days a success. Some people would have volunteered but were away and others volunteered but weren’t needed. I’ve listed all those who turned up to help on both days so particular thanks to them, and Mitch and Matt, for putting the whole event together. If I’ve missed anyone I apologise.

Thanks a lot!
