That’s a wrap for this year’s Open Weekend

With a lot of help from volunteering members of the club, the Open Weekend – the Great British Tennis Weekend – was a great success. From dropping leaflets at the station, organising banners to be erected, distributing flyers to the schools, advertising on Facebook, Estate Agent boards through the area and putting posters up in Shenfield (phew) there was good publicity and therefore a high number of registrations again.

Unfortunately, every year the weather plays a huge part in actual attendance and while the morning of the Saturday was good, with excellent attendance for the mini and junior coaching, the heavens opened in the afternoon and it was quieter than usual.

However, on the Sunday we were blessed with warm sunny weather, the courts were packed and everyone had a wonderful time. There were many new enquiries – especially the coaching category – and quite a few sign ups on the day. We were also privileged to meet Colin Sweeney, a former Essex League player and member of the club.

Various photos are below. As always thanks to the committee, coaches and volunteers for making this another successful event. Next up quiz night!
